Been Busy Doing ... a lot

Hello out there and thank you for being here for my check in. I know that there aren't actually a ton of you that are following along, but I definitely appreciate everyone that is.

It's been a hot minute since I have taken the time to write a blog/newsletter. For those of you that are trying to keep up with me, I apologize. My neuro-spicy brain isn't always a friend and usually actively tries to sabotage me.

On the editing front:

I have been chugging away polishing up manuscripts on a regular basis. Over the last several months, I got the privilege of working with several new-to-me authors. Most of the work I've been editing has been in a genre I wouldn't normally be drawn to, crime drama.

Although I do adore watching procedurals and Midsomer Murderswhich is not so much drama as it is ... difficult to describeI tend to choose fantasy manuscripts. It's been fun stepping outside my comfort zone and embracing change.

Back in the genre of fantasy, I had a ton of fun editing The Falling City series by D. Lambert. It is available for pre-order now.

Lione by D. Lambert

I also got to alpha edit two books for Nick Savage over the last few months: The Grey Fairy Anomaly, which is available for pre-order and World Whore, D which he just sent off to his publisher.

The Grey Fairy Anomaly is the fifth and final book in the West Haven Undead series. I have loved every book in this series (which is good since I am narrating them now) and it was bittersweet to read the final book. He does a great job with it and promises that although the story of Scarlett, Allison, Connor, Bri, Duncan, Vistrus, and Grams is over, The Nation is far from complete, which I find both cryptic and exciting.

World Whore, D is a fun noir detective book. If you've read his Fairlane books, you'll notice a very similar feel to this book. Since he just sent it to his publisher, there isn't any info about release or anything like that.

Onto narrating since I mentioned that above:

A while back I finished recording The West Haven Undead and it is officially available anywhere you buy audiobooks. I've begun recording A Vampire Named Allison, but then I got really, really sick and lost my ability to speak/do voices and although it has been a few months, I still struggle talking for longer than a few minutes at a time and projecting from my diaphragm.

I bought a new mic setup and will probably start trying to record again in a few weeks.

Wanderlust Yoga has been a big part of my focus for the last six months. I finally started recording videos for YouTube and meditation podcasts. It's kind of crazy how much work goes into getting a 5-10-minute video/podcast ready up and going. Most people think that if it is a 5-minute video it takes about 7 minutes to record it and have it done. That simply isn't true.

Today, I scheduled a 3-minute meditation podcast. It took approximately 7 minutes to record it, 20 minutes to edit it, then almost an hour to set up all of the postings that go with it: to the podcast hosting site, promo images, scheduled posts to all of the social media accounts, and I choose to also make YouTube videos to go with them, one with captions and one without. So that 3-minute clip actually took me about an hour and a half to complete, and I've gotten much better at doing it than I used to be, so I've cut the amount of time it takes down, a lot.

Not really Wanderlust Yoga related, but fitness related, I have signed up for the virtual Bimbo 5k again this year. It is something that I look forward to every year. It is a nice tradition, and they help feed people. Win-Win!

I started a new photography class this month, in an attempt to get my spark for shooting pretty pictures that I can share with the world back. Within a day of starting the course, I started taking pictures again.

Out of focus pastel lights cascade around a figure.

This course, put on by Video School Online, has already been amazing. I know that anyone that has experience will probably think that it is a very beginner course, at least the first several lessons, but I was finally able to understand a bunch of concepts/camera functions that my brain had simply chosen to not understand for so long.

I am really excited to keep taking this class and learning more.

As for Handmade With Love, I have basically just abandoned that project. I spent a few months doing shows and really trying to make it work, but after 3 months, I sat down, calculated costs, hours, and income and realized I was losing money. When eggs shot up in price, I had to call it quits for sure because it pushed the costs way too high. I will leave the baked treats to people who have a true passion for it.

I think that with all of that, everyone is all caught up on all the different aspects of who I am and what I do.

As always, if you have any questions or just want to touch base, I'm available on a ridiculous amount of social networks.

Love you all,

Kris
