Did I miss the beginning of June?!?!

Welcome new readers, and old.

I cannot believe that it is already June 6th. The first few days of June have been a wild ride and therefore, I completely forgot to write my newsletter.

I hope that everyone out there had a great month. Here in Central Florida, big summer seems to have arrived already with our temps reaching the upper 90s and setting heat records. I try to get out and enjoy life outside my house as much as possible, but I don't enjoy feeling like I may spontaneously combust at any second.

After many, many suggestions, I have started a Tik-Tok account that will be filled with my progress, recipes, exercise tips, and probably some rantings.

This month's photo of the month was taken while I was working outside the house at the Disney resort The Contemporary. Even the daily parts of our lives can be glamorous.

The Editing World

Things in the editing world are continuing to move along, but I have slowed my work down a bit because I'm feeling slightly overwhelmed by needing to record the two West Haven Undead books.

Coming out in October is Dead Carnage by Amanda Fasciano. It is book 5 in her Life After series. I highly recommend you check this series out if you're into detective mysteries, supernatural thrillers, and action books. It is a wild ride to say the least.

The Narrating World

I'm currently over half the way finished narrating The West Haven Undead by Nick Savage.

Narrating this book has been a complete joy, despite his extra long, wordy, tongue twisty sentences.

Finding a nice balance between all of the jobs has been a bit hectic, but I'm getting there.

Baking

As I was editing and narrating more and more, I was getting super burned out. I love to bake breads, cookies, and cupcakes but was seriously struggling to find time to do it because I was so focused on editing, narrating, and staying active. There are, after all, only so many hours in the day, and my husband and I can only eat so many baked goods, or we will not be able to fit into our wardrobe anymore.

For at least the last decade, everyone has told me to start selling my baked goods. I have never had the confidence to do it. I always said I couldn't justify the price I would have to ask to make it worth it. Then social media came around and I am seeing people SUCCESSFULLY selling bread, cookies, and cakes for more than I was planning to ask.

And, so, the reason this newsletter is late, I have finally decided to open a micro bakery out of my home. I looked into the Florida cottage industry laws and figure that with all of my food safe experience working in restaurants, bakeries, and delis, why not! So, I have spent the last 5 days researching markets, buying supplies, and baking!

My first market will be a week from today in Thornton Park, Florida at a cute little night market.

Then, my husband, who does conventions, was mentioning that I am starting a micro bakery to someone and they helped me get a booth at Tampa Bay Screams from Friday, June 28th-Saturday, June 29th.

I still have a ton of prep to do for those two shows, but am equally nervous and excited.

I still have to build my website, but didn't want to delay on getting this newsletter out any more than I already had.

Fitness

Now that its "officially summer," let's get outside to get our healthy on. Remember back when we were children. Being healthy was so easy. We rode our bikes everywhere and never did we feel like we were "exercising." We were just doing what we needed to do.

Now that we are adults, let's take a page from our youth. Slather on the sunscreen, fill a water bottle full of water, strap your helmet on and pedal. Trust me, I can tell you from experience, it isn't as easy as we remember it. That's ok. You don't have to bike a marathon. Find places close to home and pedal on over. Need to run to the corner store? Why drive when you can ride your bike? Want to run over to the sandwich shop a mile away for lunch? Jump on your bike and ride on over. Riding your bike will actually do double duty, you get to burn off excess calories and it's better for our environment!

Nutrition

Pineapple just screams summer to me. I love the sweet and sour flavor of a pineapple. The delicious juiciness of a freshly sliced pineapple cannot be beat. Pineapples also pack in a whopping 131% of your recommended daily value of vitamin C and only have 81 calories per cup. That's pretty amazing considering how sweet and delicious they are.

I know a lot of people think pina colada when they think pineapple, and I can totally understand that. I love making pina colada smoothies.

Combine 1 cup frozen pineapple with a banana, a scoop of vanilla protein powder and 1/2 cup canned coconut milk in the blender. Blend until smooth. It'll give you that frothy tropical flavor you're craving without all of the added calories of the rum. And you can have it for breakfast before work without getting in trouble. Yummy!

Mind Body Connection

For today's mind body connection let's get real with ourselves.

This week, let's work on some goal setting. Sit down in a nice quiet place and really think about this upcoming summer. What do you want to do this summer? Who do you want to see this summer? Is there a concert you've been thinking about going to? Maybe there's a new skill you want to learn.

Now, really think about each item. What do you need to do to make sure you accomplish these goals? Do you need to buy the plane tickets and book a room? What are some things that might stop you from completing any of them? What are you going to do to make sure that you don't wake up a week before the holiday season, having not done any of the things you were thinking about doing? How are you going to take advantage of all of the extra light the universe gives us this time of the year?

Now, make sure it all happens!

Happy summer everyone! Get out there and enjoy this weather. Get some sun and fresh air.

Much love to everyone,

Kris
